

Dan served at four U.S. federal agencies among them as Captain with the United States Public Health, Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP). He was Professor at the Environmental Health Science Program at Eastern Kentucky University and maintains his credentials as Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) and Registered Hazardous Substances Professional (RHSP). Dan has written and co-authored manuals and articles for industry and academia.
Dan holds degrees of DrPH in Health Services Management, MPH in Environmental Health Management, and B.Sc. in Environment Science. He has 45 years of experience with four U.S. federal agencies; among them having served as Captain with the United States Public Health, Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP), consultant to ARAMCO Oil Company, and Associate Professor at the Environmental Health Science Program at Eastern Kentucky University. Dan is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) and Registered Hazardous Substances Professional (RHSP). He has managed and developed online programs based on requirements from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development “Health Housing Reference Manual”, and CDC’s Citizen’s Environmental Health Inquiry Response Line. His professional interests are in adapting public health best practices to the land and maritime operations: food and water sanitation practices for small and large operations; international environmental health and safety measures for cruise companies; and public health evaluation models for service operations. Dan has a profile of public health leadership.
Dan’s graduate work focused on developing critically important public health/environmental health science courses for the second largest environmental health undergraduate program in the United States, and for developing a consortium of public health practice partners among the U.S. Army, local industry and environmental and public health governmental agencies throughout the state of Kentucky. His university teachings concentrated in the areas of environmental sciences, trends in public health, evaluation of food service facilities in terms of quality and carrying capacity, and consumer behavior in the selection and use of quality metrics.
Dan has extensive experience with international public health agencies having undertaken innovative projects in Canada, England, Australia, and Egypt.
