Kristijan holds a master of science degree (M.S.) in environmental engineering, and a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in environmental health engineering. He has more than ten years’ experience in the fields of public health and environmental engineering compliance, and has been an officer with management responsibility and an internal inspector. His certification training includes Pool/Spa Operator of Aquatic Facilities and development and implementation of HACCP-based food safety system. Kristijan believes in healthy cruising supported by education, development and implementation of the highest public health standards.‍

Kristijan earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental health engineering at the University of Applied Health Sciences in Zagreb. Curiosity for traveling led him to begin his career as a traveling Sanitation Officer onboard Carnival Cruise Lines vessels. While there, he managed and performed internal inspections to verify compliance with the US Public Health Service (USPHS) Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) and conducted training with the goal to improve crew awareness and knowledge. Following his motivation to broaden his experience and knowledge, he worked at Crystal Cruises, where he held the Sanitation Officer position onboard the Crystal Serenity. Sanitation Officer duties included oversight of public health operations within hotel departments, maintenance of high sanitation standards by carrying out shipboard sanitation audits, conducting food safety training and implementing quality management operations. Knowledge-driven after several years with Crystal Cruises, Kristijan continued his  education at Hamburg University of Technology, where he graduated with a Master of Science degree in International Environmental Engineering Program. As a specialist in waste management, he served as Environmental Officer onboard TUI Cruises, where he ensured regulatory compliance on local, national and international levels. 

Kristijan’s previous work as Public Health Compliance Officer for MSC Cruises afforded him onboard experience and knowledge traveling fleetwide ensuring compliance with USPHS/VSP, EU SHIPSAN, ANVISA regulations. In addition to monitoring, inspecting and training, he participated in construction compliance inspections during building stages for MSC Cruises new-builds at Chantiers de l'Atlantique and Fincantieri Monfalcone shipyards.
